Also this year AEGEE is going to organize about a hundred of SUMMER UNIVERSITIES: holiday and study in the whole Europe, from Helsinki to Malta, from Madrid to Cyprus, from Copenhagen to Moskow. The organization is made by the Local Antennas (e.g. AEGEE-ROME etc...) which decide the program, select the participants whom they will host and collaborate with institutions to raise enough funds. There are different types of Summer Universities: Summer Courses, Language Courses and Travelling Summer Courses (which take place in 2 or more cities).
Furthermore, Antennas which organizes a S.U. for the first time, will show the label Summer Event.

After that, with the number of your membership card you can create an account on aegee.org and apply online for the chosen S.U. Is AEGEE a sort of travel agency? No, AEGEE is a students' association whose aim is to promote students' mobility and seeks to destroy mental barriers and to promote European integration. Joining us, you will have the chance to get closer with people and folklore of the place you are visiting.

How can I know where Summer Universities are organized? Simple: surf to AEGEE-Europe website and you will have all necessary informations. Locations, dates, prices, kind of lodging, program, fees and payment options.

Let's speak about costs: membership fee varies depending on the local commitee which you are joining; in Rome, for example, membership fee is 20€ per year. The summer university costs about 80€ per week (it can vary depending on the destination) and the amount includes lodging, breakfast and, by rule, another warm meal. As far as concerns with the missing meal, you will be able to cook or cheap places will be suggested.
For example, the cost of a Language Course (LC) and of a Summer Course (SC) is 60€ per week. Travelling Summer University ( TSU), Language Course Plus ( LC+) o Summer University Plus ( SC+) cost 80 € per week.

What is included in the fee? It includes lodging (it can be in students' houses, private house, hostels, camping...), 1 or 2 meals and the program (trips, museums..even if in certain case and you will be asked for an extra fee for certain activities, but it will be clear in the program). It it's about Traveling SU, the cost of moving from one place to another is included in the fee.
The cost of the voyage from your house to the place of the event is not included.

How can it be possible that the SUs are so cheap? SUs are organized by locals, who are kind of volunteers (i.e. they are not paid). Furthermore, being part of an association, they collaborate all the year long with the university, the city hall, etc... and these institutions support them.

Can I choose only one destionation? You can choose 3 destinations but one mainframe will select, within your selections, only one place and your application will be sent only to it. So, selecting 3 places, the probability of being accepted do not rise.

What happens during these SU? You will have the opportunity of studying Spanish in Valencia, German in Hamburg, or probably of visiting Transilvania, discovering Malta, Turkey or Finland. Each SU (this year more than 100!) is different from the others, but they have at least one thing in common, and is the fact that is not a journey like others: in a Summer University AEGEE you will find friends ready to host you in their city, sometimes in their houses, and you'll learn together the deep richness of diversity and cultural exchange.
